About the company

The foundation

History of the company began in 1882. At that time brothers Benedicts founded a porcelain factory in Karlovy Vary, that was named after its founders „Gebrüder Benedikt”. The stylized monogram GB has accompanied the factory for the whole duration of its lifetime. In 1932 this factory became a member of EPIAG concern (Erste Böhmische Porzellan Industrie A.G.).

The beginnings of hotel porcelain

The first porcelain products for hotels and restaurants appeared in production after 1958 when the firm was integrated into the company Karlovarsky porcelan. The factory started to produce new porcelain series Princip, Praha, Diana, Forta, Melodie and Kent intended for gastronomic facilities and it became specialized in this kind of porcelain. Among the advantages of hotel porcelain belongs its thickened construction that endures harder handling. Professionals from the field of gastronomy also appreciate excellent heat isolation.

Development of the firm after 1989

The important point in history of the company was the year 1992. The firm became a part of the concern Keramik Holding A.G. Laufen and was renamed to Hotelovy porcelan Karlovy Vary a.s. At that time the famous companies Lilien and Langenthal transferred their production of porcelain right to the porcelain factory in Karlovy Vary. But several years later all these three firms went bankrupt.

G.Benedikt in the 21st century

In 2002 the factory was purchased by the Czech company Polyflex which took the historical name G.Benedikt and brought the necessary capital for its progress. One year later G.Benedikt became the owner of the firms Lilien Austria and Suisse Langenthal, the world-known producers of hotel porcelain. Consequently, the company expanded its foreign commerce with the view of becoming the leader in this branch not only in Europe but in the other parts of the world as well.
